Gaggle allows you to:
Download the Gaggle Brochure Download the APS Flyer (The new Anti-Pornography Scanner) How it Works for StudentsKids as young as eight and as old as eighteen can use Gaggle. It's very easy to use, and the kids can't break it. Gaggle mail is provided via the Web. No hardware or software is required by your school other than an internet connection. Students can log onto the Gaggle Web site using any computer. They can log in from any computer in your classroom, the library computer or their computer at home. We encourage students to do their email outside of the classroom. This saves valuable class time, and as the teacher you're still in control. When students arrive at the Gaggle Web site, they simply enter their name and password to access their account. The first thing students will see is their Inbox screen. This screen shows all of their mail folders and the contents of each folder. Clicking on one of the messages will bring up the selected email to read. After reading the message, the student can write a reply, view the next message; or start a whole new message. Gaggle has many features built right in. There is an address book for storing friends email addresses and students can send and receive attachments. Please take a look at some of the sample mail screens. How it Works for TeachersEach teacher receives a master account on the Gaggle server. Teachers can send and receive email from this account just like the students or they can have the mail forward to a secondary email address. The teacher accounts give access to the special monitoring and control sections within the Gaggle Network. As a teacher, you can view the contents of your students email. You can review any message which the students have sent or received. You will also have the ability to suspend the students account and change their password and screen name. Gaggle has a built in monitoring system to watch for suspicious mail. Any student email that looks questionable will be sent to the teacher's "Blocked" folder. The teacher has the opportunity to review the message before deleting it or allowing the message to be sent. Email messages are monitored for specific words or phrases. The address of the sender/receiver is also monitored. Follow these links if you want to learn more about the Content Monitor or the Address Monitor. Setting Up AccountsSetting up new accounts for your students is very easy. You can set up the accounts yourself right on the Web or you can have your students enter their own information to create an account. You can set the accounts up yourself from the Add Users screen by entering the data or pasting in text from an outside source. You can also generate user key codes for each new user. These are special onetime user codes that you give to each student. When the student logs into Gaggle for the first time, they will be asked to fill out their user information. Customizing the NetworkThe Gaggle Network is all about giving teachers and schools control over the students' email. The Gaggle monitoring system can even be customized to your own preferences. You can choose which words and phrases you want to block and which email addresses you want to block or allow. Do you want to use your own domain name for your email addresses? Do you want to create your own custom login screen linked to your schools Web site? This can be arranged. Your students can have email addresses such as "Joey@Spartan_High.com" For more information about custom domain names click here. Our goal is for the Gaggle Network to become the backbone for the school of the tomorrow. Email is just the first of our connected learning tools which we plan to offer. We need your help. Please let us know what we can do to make Gaggle a success for you. How is this Free? Many teachers have asked the question "How can Gaggle be offered to schools for free?" The answer is that we provide the free version of Gaggle so teachers will use the service and convince the district that Gaggle is a valuable educational tool. The advertising does bring in some revenue, but it is not enough to cover the costs of the over 12,000 schools that have signed up. You can subscribe to an advertising free version of Gaggle for a reasonable yearly fee. Check out the subscription Version of Gaggle and the enhanced services. Please note, if your school has users under the age of thirteen, use of the Free Version of Gaggle implies that your school is acting as a proxy for parental consent.
